Photography

Owensby Photography focused on maternity, babies, seniors, and families. Most sessions were outdoor, natural lighting with some studio sessions mixed in.It was a joy to watch the babies grow to toddlers and see how they blossom each year. I enjoyed the repeat business and always tailored to their request to match their personality. I was always exploring fun new spots and suggesting hidden gems helped set me apart.

School Shirts

As part of the Grand Oak Elementary PTA I was tshirt chair for 2 years and designed t-shirts for the school. The first year was virtual learning and created “keepsake” shirts and a way to keep kids involved in the school spirit while away. The next year elective classes were highlighted along with implementing 5th grade graduation signature shirts.

LKN Currents Magazine Freelance

This is my freelance work from Lake Norman Currents magazine. I worked with them from June 2011- November 2016, for 5+ years. The layouts were set up monthly for Mooresville, Birkdale, Dining, Pet, and Blowing Rock pages.

DIY Woodworking Classes

I created Inspired Woodwork because so many ladies wanted to learn how to use power tools and I wanted to give them the confidence to achieve anything. Many were surprised at how fun and non intimidating it was. The power tools were too much of a liability so I needed to pivot and started in-home DIY parties with just light assembly and painting.

Online Orders

I soon found out many people liked my work but could not find the time to attend a class and just wanted to order. Then I navigated to selling on Etsy. One of my goals with the Inspired Woodwork business was to make a sale in every state. This was achieved in all 50 states and I am proud to share my work with so many people. It continues to grow with 2700+ sales and over 450+ 5-star reviews. This has taught me a lot about customer service, inventory management, pricing and shipping.

Kids Classes

Then I knew kids could benefit from the classes too and started with many small projects to build confidence. It grew to design classes and how they can use them in the real world for things they want to make happen.

Treehouse

My kids were 3 and 5 and I wanted to have a treehouse in our backyard. I knew what I wanted and set out to make it. It took 3 months of bite size moments to work on it but I had some small helpers along the way. My kids are older now and do not use it that much but the younger neighborhood kids know they can use it anytime. This shows the process from start to finish.

More Projects

Many house projects later, the list is still going. Here are a few home decor pieces that are throughout our house.
